  1. After the demise of the ground breaking first line up of the Saints Chris Bailey assembled a new band and released the Monkey Puzzle. This album would have to be considered one of the great post punk alternative rock albums of the 80's.5/5(1).

  4. Likewise, Side One of Scarce Saints isn’t scarce, merely a reprise of much of the same early material as Prehistoric Songs and Best of the Saints. Side Two, however, is a live set from London’s Dingwalls, presumably by the lineup that made Monkey Puzzle.

  7. 'Casablanca' (or 'Out in the Jungle', in its international release) is a stronger album than its predecessor, 'The Monkey Puzzle'. Overall, there are still too many generic, sub-Rolling Stones rockers here, most of them as unmemorable as those on the previous album ('Come On', ' Faces'), and adding horns to everything doesn't help with the songs.
  8. "Permanent Revolution" was released as an "official bootleg" by Mushroom Records in but in reality it is a collection of "demos" for either Chris Bailey or Saints albums. Several of the tracks have yet to be recorded on "real" albums if in fact they ever will be so from that point of view this is a fairly interesting collection of "works in progress".
